WEARABLE PILL DETECTOR

FOR ETECT – DESIGNED BY ROBRADY DESIGN

INCREASING COMPLIANCE

Currently, it is very difficult for groups doing medical studies to verify that participants are actually taking the medication that is required. So Etect approached Robrady to design a wearable product for use in these studies that can detect their RFID pill which only becomes activated after making contact with stomach acid. The device would have to be with the participant at all times and must make contact with the skin to authenticate their identity via EKG as the pill is being detected. Multiple formats were explored including wrist bands and chest straps, but ultimately we decided on a pendant that would keep the device very close to the stomach, decreasing the likelihood of a false read. The design was kept soft and friendly, with the goal being that it would visually disappear as much as possible during use. Also, the neck strap performs dual duty, acting both as a standard lanyard and also as a gasket to keep the device water proof.
