Project Description

GEOTHERMAL HEAT EXCHANGER

FOR EARTHLINKED – DESIGNED BY ROBRADY DESIGN

CONDITIONED FOR EXCELLENCE

Geothermal HVAC systems pump coolant through pipes sunk several meters underground below a user’s yard in order to heat and cool their home using the radiant temperature of the earth. Unlike their competitors, Earthlinked’s system employ’s highly efficient copper pipes. When they approached Robrady, their system was housed in a simple beige box that didn’t reflect the premium features or price point it commands. They tasked us with redesigning their housing in order to minimize the number of exposed fasteners, make it easier to assemble, and give their product an iconic branded look that emphasizes their use of copper pipes. While many design directions were considered, the final concept features a wrap around copper band, that leads the eye to the lit Earthlinked Logo, as well as a dark color to contrast with the copper, and more rounded forms. Fasteners were minimized by employing a system of locking pins, and a premium badge was placed near the bottom similar to high-end appliances.
